The Clean Sweep is a major conservation project to clean and protect the National Library of Ireland's 50,000+ rare books in preparation for their transfer to a newly upgraded on-site store. This collection includes some of the earliest printed books in the Irish language to collectors' editions of contemporary Irish authors. Highlights include the Library's extensive holdings of major Irish literary writers such as Swift, Yeats and Joyce.
Over 1,000 books will be cleaned, measured and surveyed each week by the Rare Book Team and members of the public can see the work for themselves every weekday afternoon.
ASG worked with the National Library of Ireland to design and produce display materials explaining the project, people and processes involved.
